Does Maglev make noise?

Maglev is quieter than traditional trains. A complete evaluation will be conducted of potential noise effects of Maglev operation in the Baltimore-Washington corridor and mitigation measures will be presented in the EIS. Noise walls and/or noise proofing of buildings will become part of the project where estimates indicate that noise impacts are likely to exceed allowable standards as established by federal, state and local agencies.
