Baltimore-Washington Maglev Corridor

The U.S. Office of Management and Budget has merged the Baltimore
Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) and Washington, DC MSA to officially create
the Washington/Baltimore Consolidated Metropolitan Statistical Area (CMSA).
This CMSA stretches from Northern Virginia through most of the State of
Maryland to the Pennsylvania line.

With an estimated year 2000 population of 7.3 million persons, the Washington/Baltimore CMSA represents the fourth largest consolidated market in the US with only New York/Northern New Jersey, Los Angeles/Orange County and Chicago/Gary having larger populations. The Washington/Baltimore CMSA ranks first in median household income among the Nation's Metropolitan areas with a median income of $59,450 in 2000.   read more >>

Eastern Seaboard Corridor


Maglev is designed to provide high speed intercity travel alternatives that will connect cities of the Eastern Seaboard, including:

  • Boston
  • New York
  • Philadelphia
  • Wilmington, DE
  • Baltimore
  • Richmond
  • Charlotte

The combined corridor would comprise approximately 800 miles, travel through nine states, and accommodate passenger and freight service at an average speed of 200 mph. Stations will provide downtown-to-downtown service.    read more >>
